Mark and Mary Jane's connection with Mackinac Island dates back to 1980 when they met while working at the Island House during college. After several seasons of intermittent visits, Mary Jane became an island fixture after buying the Island Bookstore with her sister and brother-in-law in 1989. Mark, having retired from a Minneapolis law practice, returned to the island, and the two married in 2020.

During a recent trip to Milan, Italy, Mary Jane discovered the transformative power of VoiceMap’s self-guided audio tours, realizing the potential this service held for Mackinac Island. Mark played a crucial role in writing, researching, and developing the tours. Together, they aspire to offer a unique experience that allows many to discover and cherish the beauty of Mackinac Island.
